Bhubaneswar: The BJP in Orissa will make the betrayal of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in breaking the alliance as a major poll plank in the coming Assembly election, party's senior leader Sushma Swaraj announced on Tuesday.
Sushma Swaraj, who launched the party's election campaign at a massive rally in Bhubaneswar, later told newspersons that the chief minister had 'hammered on our faith' by breaking the alliance and joining hands with the political parties which have all along opposed him during his nine years rule in the state.
She said Patnaik had also betrayed the BJP by causing a split in the party and taking away four of the party MLAs, whose Assembly constituencies were abolished in the delimitation process.
The BJP leader also to a question ruled out any post-poll alliance with the BJD in the state.
It was a question of betrayal by a single individual and the people of Orissa being politically sensitive would not like the 'cheating', and would give a befitting reply to Patnaik in the Assembly election.
She also dubbed as 'blatant lie' the Orissa CM's claim that it was not the BJD but the BJP which first broke the alliance. It was an after thought as Patnaik had now begun to realise the situation, she remarked.
