CM blames migrants for Delhi's power, water crisis
High number of migrants have caused a fall in Delhi's supply of water and power.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit launched into a tirade against migrants at a public event in Delhi on Monday, blaming their growing numbers for the problems 'permanent residents' face.

Dikshit said the high number of migrants have caused a fall in supply of water and power.

"The population in Delhi is increasing everyday. It demands more electricity and water. Anyone gets a train, comes and settles here. It creates problems. We will provide facilities, but it takes time and money," she said.

However, this isn't the first time Dikshit has made such comments, her remarks against migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar caused an uproar in the Parliament, with Rashtriya Janata Dal MPs demanding her resignation.

Meanwhile, Dikshit on Monday inaugurated a 4.2 million litre Under Ground

Reservoir (UGR) in West Delhi built at a cost of Rs 12 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, Dikshit said the new UGR at Mohan Garden area would ensure better water supply in more than 15 colonies in West Delhi.
