New Delhi: A P J Abdul Kalam is nearing the end of his tenure but after over four years of serving as the President he still likes to be identified as a teacher.

“I love teaching and prefer to be a teacher,” was his response to a question during an interaction with children, drawn from all over the country for the Children Science Congress as part of the ongoing Indian Science Congress (ISC) at the Annamalai University.

Though, Kalam had been confronted with similar questions earlier, his reiteration assumes significance following reports of some parties being inclined to offer him a second term.

Meanwhile, Kalam's fans have launched an online campaign to support extension of his tenure, which ends on July 25 this year, for another five years even as Congress and BJP remain divided over the fate of his next term.

During a recent visit to his native town Rameswaram, the President had categorically said that he would return to teaching, as that is where his heart was.

What's your reaction?
