Chennai: AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa on Thursday claimed the high voter turnout for the Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu was a reflection of people's "anger" against the ruling DMK and their resolve to oust the Karunanidhi-led government. "People have come out in large numbers in a silent revolution to show their anger and to make sure the DMK government goes," Jayalalithaa told reporters here.
The Chief Electoral Officer on Wednesday had said the polling percentage in Tamil Nadu was between 75 and 80 per cent.
Jayalalithaa lauded the Election Commission for conducting the polls in a "safe and secure" environment. "The polling went off peacefully except for minor incidents here and there. So we must all complement the EC for providing a safe and secure environment for voting," she said.
