New Delhi:The Congress on Tuesday charged that the BJP came up with the allegation that a Samajwadi Party leader tried to bribe three of their MPs because it wanted to disrupt the proceedings of Lok Sabha.
"BJP wanted to disrupt the proceedings. So they came up with these allegations," senior Congress leader Jayanti Natarajan said.
TDP said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has a 'moral responsibility' to tell the nation what transpired during the episode.
"The Prime Minister is responsible. He has a moral responsibility to tell the nation what transpires," TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu told reporters.
“It has been proved. We know BJP's tactics. We have witnessed BJP's tactics before,” said Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav.
He added that it is a conspiracy by BJP MPs. “This matter should be investigated,” he said.
“BJP has tried to malign the reputation of the Lok Sabha. Let them show the recording,” Mulayam said.
“This case will go in court now and only then it will be clear as to who all are involved,” said he.
Meanwhile, he also pointed out that the incident would not have any impact on the trust vote.
BJP national general secretary Gopinath Munde said, “It's a black day in the history of democracy.”
Meanwhile, Mulayam Singh Yadav also demanded arrest of BJP MP Ashok Argal who made allegations of bribery.
However, Ashok Argal said, “We were getting defamed in our constituency.” He also added that, “Samajwadi Party MP, Rewati Raman Singh, came to us and offered money.”
CPI(M) leader Saleem said that their worst fears have come true that money has changed hands and such allegations have put a question mark on the sanctity of the trust vote.
"We have demanded a thorough probe into the complaint and the Speaker has agreed for an enquiry," he said, adding that the incident was the 'saddest thing' in the history of institution of Parliament.
