CMF Watch Pro 2 Shows A Fun Side To The Budget Smartwatch Range
CMF Watch Pro 2 Shows A Fun Side To The Budget Smartwatch Range
The Nothing sub-brand has a wide range of affordable products in the market for buyers and a smartwatch with customisable bezels is a refreshing addition.

CMF by Nothing has a definite product strategy and identity and there is no denying they do catch the eye. The CMF Phone 1 showed us the fun element of a modular phone with customisable panels with a bundled screwdriver. Now, we are seeing the same virtues passed on to the CMF Watch Pro 2 which is step ahead of its predecessor, not only in terms of the design but overall package.

The Watch Pro 2 is priced at Rs 4,999 which is not exactly budget territory but the Nothing sub-brand looks to justify its cost by offering a product that makes a strong case for its existence. During our tests we decided to check if the Watch Pro 2 can stand up to the other smartwatches in its range and higher.

Not Lacking In Looks

CMF has made sure you don’t complain about the build quality of the Watch Pro 2. The aluminium alloy finish around the circular dial goes a long way in quashing those concerns. And if that wasn’t enough, the CMF modular touch is evident with the Watch Pro 2 as the bezels can be plucked out and replaced with another colour.

You can change the straps as well which gives you a new Watch Pro 2 look every time you need. The watch gets IP68 rating and weighs under 50 grams which makes it easy to wear even while you are sleeping. For a budget-ish wearable, the Watch Pro 2 does a fine job.

Bright Display Adds To The Glamour

The Watch Pro 2 does not compromise on the display either as you get a 1.32-inch AMOLED screen with 620 nits of peak brightness which works fine outdoors with ample visibility on offer in the brightest conditions. CMF has 100+ watch faces which adds another facet to the smartwatch and allows you to customise as your preferences.

The display gets auto-brightness features which is underrated and extremely useful when the lights switch a lot. The size of the screen allows you to read the messages clearly and get other information passed on from the phone to your wrist. The crown isn’t dynamic like the other smartwatches have but reliable and effective in what it is meant to do.

Works Where It Really Matters

Most smartwatches suffer because the OS running on them is underwhelming. Nothing is offering a basic platform which has widgets, and all the necessary health tracking features. The OS is fairly lightweight which results in efficiency without taking a hit on tools like GPS, sleep tracking, and other fitness modes.

These features work through the CMF Watch app which runs on both iOS and Android devices with version 13 and 8.0 or higher, respectively. The app has all the details, gives you granular data for sleep, steps, and other information that people might find useful for their own reading. However, we noticed the step counts can go rogue at times, which made me rely on it less.

The screen gives you alerts for all the apps that you need daily but you can only see them. The watch doesn’t let you reply back to them without taking out the phone. The OS is smooth and we didn’t notice any major stutters while using it over a few weeks.

And finally, the 305mAh battery on the Watch Pro 2 might not sound like a lot but the OS efficiency keeps it going for over a week with ease.

The charging puck is not the best way to charge the watch and we would like to see a better and convenient way of doing it with the next iteration.
