The death of an influential personality is not only a blow to their loved ones and family, but also to the people they inspired or looked after. The death of an Irish gangster is gaining a lot of attention online for the way he was honoured and laid to rest. As per media reports, the Irish gangster was killed in a car accident and was laid to rest within a gold coffin. Named Stephen O’Reilly, father of one, he was a resident of Beech Park West in Athlone, County Westmeath, Ireland. On May 20, Stephen was involved in a car accident at County Offaly, where he was declared dead at the scene. The reports further state that he was a violent and dangerous criminal, convicted for theft and other serious crimes.
His close friends described him as a “fella with a heart of gold,” so to convey it to others, his body was enclosed and carried within a gold coffin to the hearse, as Tina Turner’s Simply the Best played in the background. Some clips showed six men and a woman, placing the coffin through his home’s front window. At the same time, a male voice was heard uttering, “He’s coming home the way he was out.”
Stephen O’Reilly’s funeral mass took place at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Coosan, Athlone, in Ireland. The deceased gangster was paid floral tributes at the funeral, which included an image of a white powder labelled “No comment” and a topless image of the man himself. The words on his photo read, “The real Pablo. The one and only Gangster Reilly.”
Some of Stephen’s close friends paid tribute to him through social media. The first user shared, “It feels like a terrible dream.” Another shared, “Literally can’t come to terms with it or even think it’s true.” And a third stated “Literally can’t come to terms with it or even think it’s true.”
