Woman Not Happy As Swiggy Charged Rs 150 For 1.8 Km Distance, Company Reacts
Content creator Swati Mukund explained her own experience and came to the conclusion of never trusting Swiggy for her food needs again.

Whether you’re craving a quick snack or tired of cooking a full-course meal after a hectic workday at the office, the food delivery app is a lifesaver that offers undeniable convenience. With just a few taps on your phone, these apps allow you to order from a wide variety of restaurants. No more waiting in line at restaurants or prepping and cooking meals at home. You can order whenever you are hungry and have it delivered straight to your doorstep. But the convenience of food comes at a cost and also has some downsides that many might have experienced.

Exposing the same scams of the delivery apps, content creator Swati Mukund recently took to Instagram and revealed her experience with Swiggy. As the video opens, Swati starts saying that Swiggy has come up with a new scam in the market these days. Mukund continued saying that she placed an order on the app at 8:20, and the app indicated that the estimated time of delivery was 30 minutes. But her order did not arrive until 9:00 PM.

So, frustrated by the delay, she thought to reach out to Swiggy’s customer care instead of the delivery person, requesting the cancellation of the order.

In the viral video, Swati explained that she told Swiggy’s customer care that her food hadn’t been picked up even after 45 minutes. To which Mukund alleges that the customer care representatives asserted that, as per their system, the order was picked up at 8:40 PM. On the basis of that, they had until 9:10 PM to deliver the food.

The video progressed with Mukund saying that despite her attempts to reason with the customer care team, Swiggy neither cancelled the order nor initiated a refund. With that said, she concluded the video, expressing, “So this is a reminder to myself to never trust Swiggy for your food needs ever again.”

The post was captioned, “Swiggy not cool at all! This has happened with me and a couple of others I know, and this isn’t what I expected of you. Honestly. I have been a user and a regular one at that, but I guess serving customers food or good service isn’t on your menu anymore. And I paid 150 rupees for delivery for a 1.8 km distance.”

“Also, to add here, the issue wasn’t with food that’s being cooked. I had ordered a cake for someone and usually cakes and sweets are ready items. With hot meals I’ve always given the benefit of the doubt to the service providers. So, the dwindling timelines were obviously annoying,” the blogger added in the comment section.

Unsurprisingly, the blogger was not the first person to fall victim to Swiggy’s scam. Soon after the video was posted, the comment section was filled with messages sharing their experiences of facing the same scam and sometimes waiting for hours, only to get it cancelled for no reason.

Later, Mukund provided an update in the comment section, revealing that the food delivery app Swiggy reached out to her to address the situation. She wrote, “Swiggy got in touch with me, and I had a conversation with their senior representative. They’ve assured me that they’ll train their customer care representatives in a better manner and that this won’t be repeated with me or the other customers in the future,” as reported by the media outlet NDTV.

The blogger also mentioned that she has addressed some of the complaints from the comments section, mentioning how harrowing it is for a common person to get in touch and speak to someone sensible from their end. She concluded by saying that she hoped this would pave the way for better service in the future.
