How to Clean a Boarding Kennel
How to Clean a Boarding Kennel
These instructions are to familiarize you with basic sanitation procedures at boarding kennels. This is something that is used at least two times a day for regular work, but variations of this can be used depending on if a boarded guest has any “bodily fluid incidences”. Because most kennels are able to house a large number of pets at any given time, practicing good sanitation procedures will enable you to eliminate the risk of spreading diseases and common illnesses like canine influenza. Before you start these procedures you will need to know where all the supplies are and how to dilute the industrial grade disinfectant.
Steps

Remove the dog from the kennel. Place it into a separate area, or outside yard.

Remove all bedding, bowls, and toys from the kennel. Set aside.

With the pooper scooper, scoop up any debris and feces in the kennel. Discard appropriately.

Rinse the entire kennel. This includes the ceiling, walls, and floor. Use warm water.

Apply diluted disinfecting solution. Apply the solution according to manufacturer's directions.

Scrub the kennel with the bristle brush. Allow the disinfectant to soak in for as long as required.

Spray clean. Use the hose to thoroughly spray down the kennel with warm water.

Dry the kennel using the squeegee. Start with the ceiling and work your way down the walls, then to the floor.

After kennel is completely dry, add new bedding, bowls, and toys. If the dog has come with toys from home, be sure to disinfect them (if they are dirty) before putting them back into the kennel.

Fill the water bowl with cool clean water.

Bring the dog back into the kennel. Be sure that the dog is comfortable and has everything it needs.

What's your reaction?
