How to Tame a Minecraft Parrot
Equip any type of seed in your hand. Switch over to any seed in your inventory—wheat, pumpkin, torchflower, beetroot, and melon seeds are all fair game. To raise your chances of success, have multiple seeds in your inventory beforehand. Don’t have any seed? Collect wheat seeds by breaking down grass blocks in the nearby terrain. It’s also fairly simple to find melon seeds in different areas, like jungles and NPC villages.
Feed it to the parrot until hearts appear around it. Right-click on the parrot with the equipped seed to feed it. Continue clicking (with the seed still equipped) to feed the parrot until hearts appear over it—that means it’s tamed. Use LT for Xbox, L2 for PS4 or PS5, and the ZL button for Nintendo Switch. A tamed parrot will sit on your shoulder, and it’ll also follow you around. If you tame multiple parrots, up to 2 birds can sit on your shoulders. Warning: If you find or make cookies, don’t feed them to your feathered friend—the parrot will die immediately.
Where can you find parrots in Minecraft?
Parrots spawn in any type of jungle biome. In all versions of Minecraft, parrots have a 0.2% chance of appearing in both regular jungles and bamboo jungles. In the Bedrock edition of Minecraft, parrots can also appear in sparse jungles. In any of these biomes, parrots tend to hang out around leaves, grass blocks, or logs. Don’t be discouraged if you can’t find one right away. It might take a bit of searching!
