Bangalore: Is Govt delaying BBMP fire probe?
Ulsoor Gate police told to hand over investigation to CID. Cops confused as there is no investigating officer.

BANGALORE: Amidst the allegations that state government is trying to hush up the multicrore bogus scam probe, it seems it is also trying to delay  the process of investigation of the fire that broke out at the BMTF office in BBMP in last November. The fire had broken out in the third floor of the BBMP building on November 20,  which had housed one of the rooms for BMTF to keep their documents.

The incident which took place at around 8.30 pm, reportedly destroyed the documents (allegedly pertaining to multicrore scams) and spread to the adjacent offices of the Technical Adviser, Audit Department and Joint Director (Town Planning-South). This had raised suspicions.

An FIR was registered at Ulsoor Gate police station in this regard. Later, the government announced of handing over the probe to CID.  On Tuesday, the government wrote a letter to the Ulsoor Gate police asking them to handover the case to CID. “We will handover the case in another a few days,” Parameshwar, Police Inspector of Ulsoor Gate Police Station, said. Police are confused after receiving the letter from the government.

“Though we were told to submit the case to CID, we are in a dilemma as there is  no Investigation Officer (IO) for this case in the CID. But now, we do not know whom to submit the details. We are doing a good job and have tried to crack the case to some extent. What is the need to handover the case to CID? Now with no IO, this is just an attempt to delay or bury the case,” sources said.
