FIR filed against VS, seven others

KOZHIKODE/KASARGOD: Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Friday registered an FIR against Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan and seven others in connection with the allotment of land to a relative of the former Chief Minister in Kasargod.VS is the first accused in the FIR submitted by the Vigilance officials before the Inquiry Commissioner and Vigilance Special Judge, Kozhikode, V Jayaram.The FIR was registered for criminal conspiracy, cheating and destroying evidence under the Prevention of Corruption Act, in assigning 2.33 acres of land at Mundyathadka in Enmakaje Panchayat in the Kasargod district to ex-serviceman P K Soman, a relative of Achuthanandan. The charges call for one to seven years imprisonment to the accused.
