Pramod Mahajan was shot by his younger brother Pravin at his Worli residence on April 22.

Mumbai: BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan was shot by his younger brother Pravin at his Worli residence on April 22, 2006 following a heated dispute.

Here is the sequence of events that unfolded on that fateful day:

  • Pravin left his home in Thane's Jhangi Apartment's at 5:30 am. Pramod had bought the house for him 10 years ago.
  • He was carrying his nine mm Browning pistol with him.
  • Pravin drove to Pramod Mahajan's Worli house- entering the 15th floor flat at 7:30 am.
  • Pramod was reading the newspaper when his brother walked in.
  • The two had a heated argument, overheard by the neighbours. His wife and children were with him.
  • - Pravin then shot Pramod at least three times at point blank range - hitting his liver, pancreas and intestines.

  • Pramod was rushed to Hinduja hospital by a doctor who lived in the apartment complex.
  • Pravin walked out of the house and surrendered at the Worli Police Station.
  • It's believed that Pravin then left only to surrender some time later at the Worli Police station where he was arrested under section 307.
