A line of electric posts were damaged in a freak mishap involving a cracker-laden lorry here on Sunday morning.
It is said, snapped electric wires got entangled in the wheel of the lorry when the driver, Murugan (48) of Vengamedu, started it after a halt at his house overnight. As he continued to drive unmindful of the entangled wires, the posts got damaged one after the other.
The public raised an alarm and hearing the noise, Murugan brought the lorry to a stop.As power supply snapped immediately, what would have been otherwise a major explosion was averted. Murugan was transporting the crackers from Sivakasi to Ghaziabad. Vengamedu police and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board officials rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry.
