Three kidnappers of doctor nabbed

Police arrested three members of the fivemember gang that abducted DNA radiologist of Yashoda Hospital, Dr Sri Harsha Reddy, here on Sunday.

 Harsha, who was rescued by the police from his captors, said that he was mentally and physically tortured by his kidnappers for a payment of `50 lakh ransom that they needed to clear off their debts.

 The accused are Srinivas Reddy (38), the kingpin of the gang and a distant relative of Harsha, Sivaiah alias Johny (24) and Sudireddy Durga Reddy(26), an IT professional at Value Labs in Hi-tech city.

 The other two- Sudireddy Murali Krishna Reddy (28), car driver and Valla Raju (32) a tractor driver, are still absconding.

 The arrested persons and Harsha were produced before the media on Sunday.

 Srinivas told reporters that they had kidnapped Harsha and demanded a ransom of `50 lakh from Harsha’s father Lakshma Reddy, who owns land located in Srinivas’s village, Nunna, near Vijayawada.

 “I wanted to clear all my debts after kidnapping Harsha,” Srinivas said.

 According to Harsha, Srinivas took him out on the fateful day on the pretext of talking to him and drove towards Hayatnagar in a car.

 After crossing Hayatnagar, they forced a monkey cap on his head and began to beat him up. “I sensed that the vehicle was on its way to Vijayawada. After reaching the place, they kept driving in the city and neighbouring places. On Tuesday, they kept me in a small shed near Musunuru in Krishna district.

 I was tortured mentally and physically. Finally, they left me on the road between Vijayawada and Nuzvid. A special team police came and rescued me,” Harsha explained. Deputy commissioner of police Y Gangadhar said Durga Reddy tried to mislead the investigation. The police turned the victim over to his parents. Harsha’s wife Hema Reddy, parents came to the police station.
