CHENNAI: Saint poet Thiruvalluvar once said, “One can succeed in counting the number of births and deaths that have taken place, ever since the world came into existence, but none can ever succeed in his attempt to portray the gloriousness of great souls.’’ Ramana Maharishi from the South and Ramakrishna Paramahamsa from West Bengal, are great avatars of the previous century. Ramana spread his message mainly through his silence and occasionally through lucid elucidation. His benevolence, concern and compassion for mankind and animals, knew no bounds.Bhagwan Ramana’s message to his devotees is spread by Ramana Kendra Trust. The trust was founded by B Ananthaswamy, who has organised several Aradhana and Jayanthi festivals for the same. He is also known for donating the hall attached to his house to the Ramana Kendra Trust.Ananthaswamy’s son Bhoothalingam, a former General Manager of the Reserve Bank of India, in order to spread the messages of Bhagwan Ramana, has organised more than 400 concerts, lectures and demonstrations over a nine-year period.Last year, Trichy Sankaran, the mridangam maestro, was honoured with the Laya Simham Title at the Margazhi festival.Ramana Kendra, will celebrate the ninth Vasantha Utsavam this year, where, apart from felicitating Bharathanatyam and Mohiniaatam artistes, two Vedic scholars will also be conferred the title of Veda Sastra Praveena along with a cash prize of `10,000 each. The function is scheduled to be held at the Kapaleeswarar Temple this May
