CHENNAI: The usually quiet campus of the sprawling Officers’ Training Academy at St Thomas Mount roared with the sound of motorcycle engines as the popular Shwet Ashwa, a motorcycle display team of the Corps of Military Police, performed daredevil stunts on Thursday.Organised by the Academy as part of their golden jubilee celebrations, the 31-member team of military police of the Indian Army performed 61 death defying acrobatic stunts with their blazing Enfield motorcycles. Beginning with a salute, the team rode their motorcycles displaying breath-taking exercises including scissor-crossing, parallel crossing, criss-crossing, ‘V’ crossing, jimmy position, side balancing and figure of eight crossing. Performing with great precision, the riders individually showed their excellence in the field of motor display as they showed one leg riding, reverse standing on petrol tank, ladder climbing, sun bath, reverse jimmy and many others. With their immaculate performance, the riders displayed a replica of duck, aeroplane, temple, flying fish, rocket stunt, Sudarshana Chakra, bar exercise - all by balancing their motorcycles. If 11 riders displaying the replica Lotus awestruck the audience, Subedar MG Rajan, who led the team and has 20 years of experience, jumping with his motorcycle and crossing 20 of his team members lying on the ground, the motorcycle jumps through a ring of fire and tubelight jump and 29 members on seven motorcycles displaying the pyramid brought the spectators to the edge of their seats. Lt Gen SS Jog, Commandant, OTA, was the chief guest.
