Wounds not cause of Manojs death

The wounds on the body of Manoj Kumar, the unit president of the DYFI at Cheekanam in Kasargod district, who died amidst the violence during the CPM-sponsored hartal on Thursday, were not the cause for the death, according to the primary report of the post-mortem held at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital here on Friday.

Medical College Forensic Department Head Dr Shirley Vasu submitted a primary report of the post mortem to Aadhur C I Satheesh Kumar, who conducted an inquest of the body.

Sources with the hospital said that the wounds found on the body of Manoj Kumar, who was allegedly attacked by Muslim League workers during the hartal on Thursday, was not the cause of death.

However, the bleeding might have led to the death, the report added.

More details on the doubts of cardiac arrest will only be finalised after a detailed examination by the Pathology Department.

The post-mortem was shifted to the Medical College Hospital after the CPM alleged that Manoj Kumar had been attacked and killed by the Muslim League activists.

A team of doctors led by Forensic Department Head Dr Shirley Vasu, Dr Vijayakumar, Dr Sujith Sreenivas and Dr Sonu R carried out the post-mortem.
