This year, many movies have been released in theatres. Howvwer, only a few won the hearts of the viewers. Recently, IMDb has shared the list of most popular movies released in 2024 so far.
1. Kalki 2898 AD: Prabhas starrer Kalki has joined the Billion Movie Club. With this, Kalki has now become the most popular movie in the country. The film has become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024 and the 7th highest-grossing Indian film of all time, among several other records for a Telugu and Indian film.
2. Manjummel Boys: Manjummel Boys is in the second place. This Malayalam movie has been dubbed in many languages. It is based on real events. The survival thriller film is written and directed by Chidambaram and is also trending in OTT. Manjummel Boys became the first film in the Malayalam film industry to earn more than Rs 200 crore and set several box-office records, becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever.
3. Fighter: The third place has been taken by the Bollywood movie Fighter. The film features Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in the main lead. This movie was made with Rs 250 crore and ranks as the third highest-grossing Indian film of 2024 and the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024.
4. Hanu-Man: Hanu-Man film is directed by Prashant Varma with Tollywood young hero Teja Sajja playing the main lead. The film, which was made with a previously untouched concept in Telugu, gradually built expectations and was released on January 12 as a Sankranthi gift. The film earned huge profits. And this movie is ranked fourth in the most popular movie list. The film broke several box-office records for a Telugu film. With a worldwide gross of over Rs 350 crore, the film ranks as the second highest-grossing Telugu film of 2024. A sequel is in development.
5. Shaitaan: Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan and Jyotika-starrer Shaitaan is in fifth place. This supernatural horror thriller film is directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Devgn Films, Jio Studios and Panorama Studios. The film ranks as the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of 2024 and the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024.
