It’s not uncommon for online food orders to face delays, especially during weekends, bad weather, or holidays. However, when Swiggy referred to Tuesday evening as a ‘peak delivery hour,’ it left many people surprised. This unusual statement came to light when a customer from Delhi questioned the delay in his order. To his surprise, the customer support service attributed it to the ‘weekend’ peak hour, prompting him to express his frustration on social media. After all, since when did Tuesday become a weekend?
Sharing his experience on the ‘Delhi’ subreddit, a user named @soumil80 posted a screenshot of his chat with Swiggy’s customer care executive. Their response read, “As it is a weekend peak hour, the restaurant is facing heavy demand due to which there is a slight delay in your order. Request you to wait for some time and the order will be delivered to you at the earliest.”

Considering it was barely 5 p.m. on a Tuesday when this bizarre exchange unfolded, the explanation seemed utterly unreasonable.

Soon, the internet had its say. “Diagnosed with Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V,” chuckled one observer, suggesting the employee was just hitting the copy-paste button. Another chimed in, “Dilli Se Hun! Wishing for weekend on the second day of week itself….well I don’t blame him.”
A third commenter mused, “I think it’s a bot,” echoing the sentiments of others who flooded the comment section with their own complaints about Swiggy.

Meanwhile, Swiggy finds itself under the public microscope once again. One such incident involved a woman in Bengaluru who expressed frustration after being overcharged despite having a premium Swiggy One membership. Calling it a scam, she shared how she ordered the same food from the same restaurant to the same address using two accounts – one with the membership and another without. Shockingly, the platform charged Rs. 309 for the order placed through the Swiggy One account, while the non-member account received the food for just Rs. 241.
