After the family of a man who died in an accident on Yamuna expressway claimed that they asked HRD Minister Smriti Irani for help and she refused, her office has issued a clarification. "It is clarified that private vehicle Honda City DL 3C BA 5315, which allegedly hit the biker, who later on died has nothing to do with HRD Minister's cavalcade as being run in section of media," a statement from the Ministry claimed.
Her office also added that contrary to the reports, she helped in getting medical aid on time to the spot. "Rather, Minister directed SSP Mathura to arrange ambulance immediately so that injured could be given medical treatment at the earliest," the statement read.
The family of the car driver who died on the spot after he met with an accident on Yamuna Expressway had claimed that they had asked the Union Minister for help but she refused. The man who was driving a car, was killed in the chain of collisions which had led to a huge pile up of vehicles on the highway.
"Smriti Irani's car was coming from the same side that my father's car was. A truck hit his car from behind, my father was looking out for the children in the car when one of Smriti's car hit him again and he died," the son of the deceased said.
"We asked for help from Smriti Irani but she refused and he was hit again. If she would have helped, may be he would have been alive today," the deceased's daughter said.
In a series of tweets after the accident, Irani said, "For all enquiring re my accident- I'm fine. Thank you for the concern and wishes."
"There was a pile up of vehicles due to an accident on the expressway. Unfortunately the police vehicle before mine & my car also crashed," she said about the scene of the accident.
"Tried to help the injured who were lying on the road for quiet sometime and ensured they reach a hospital. Pray for their safety," she said in another tweet.
"Good Samaritan Manoj Chopra and his wife also helped injured citizens. God bless them for their empathy and kindness," she added.
