The popular messaging application WhatsApp is reportedly planning to introduce a channel alerts screen in case they decide to close your channel. Recently, a new report recently revealed that Meta-owned platform is also developing a feature that enables channel owners to request a review for their suspended channels.
“In the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.25.10 update, it was disclosed that channel owners can now specify a reason for the review, making the moderation process better. The latest update, WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.25.16, available on the Google Play Store, reveals additional improvements for this feature in the future,” WABetaInfo reported.
According to the report, WhatsApp is planning to introduce a channel alerts screen in case they decide to close your channel. It’s worth mentioning that WhatsApp had already released a channel alerts screen a few months ago with the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.20.9 update.
They are also working on updating the screen to include the option to request a review for the suspended channel. Currently, channels can be suspended for policy violations, and the ability to request a review will be added in the future. The process of including the ability to request a review for a suspended channel makes the platform more transparent.
WhatsApp Channels must follow specific policies set by the platform. If a channel violates these policies, it may be suspended. During suspension, the channel link will be disabled, existing followers won’t have access to the channel history, and new updates cannot be shared.
However, channel owners will be prompted to request a review to ask to take another look at their suspended channels. This is important since a channel could be wrongly suspended, as algorithmic decisions may not accurately reflect policy violations upon human review.
WhatsApp is working on a feature that will let channel owners request a review for their suspended channels is currently in development and is expected to be available in a future update of the app.
